GAP's 1969 flashback -- These jeans are UNION MADE!
The GAP's 1969 "Real Straight" jeans sporting the "Made in Canada" label are made by Workers United, SEIU members. In the 1990's, consumer outrage forced the GAP to address sweatshop conditions at their factories overseas. 10 years later, the GAP's turnaround includes improved environmental practices, a vender compliance program that monitors overseas factories, and a commitment to manufacturing, in part, at union shops in North America.
Solidarity never looked so good. GAP's superstar designer Patrick Roberson and team spent a year researching the perfect fit denim, a recessionista alternative to high fashion boutique jeans. The results are impressive. The "Real Straight" low rise jeans are slim and forgiving. For $69 you are getting a union quality product at a low price. Perfect to catwalk your next picket line in.
Email the GAP and let them know that you're happy to see they carry union made jeans.

Workers want change
This vote that we cast today is very important for the future. It is time to take action to better ourselves. We took a stand and voted to disaffiliate from UNITE HERE and work towards the process of making our union stronger by becoming members of SEIU. They will listen to us and what we want, not what our companies want.
We have to resolve the issues within the union to move forward with our goals and organize the whole city of Newark. And we need to reach out to our brothers and sisters in the cities in New Jersey to show them the progress we've made. We can be an example to show them that unions are good. That's why we need to work with President Obama to get the Free Choice Act passed.
